“SCALE” by Shel Silverstein

Paraphrase

Stanzas 5 and 6 talk about how the scale would probably tell that he has lost weight and he is skinny. But the last stanza tells us “If I could see the scale” this can mean that the person might be overweighted that is why he cannot see the scale.

Attitude

The attitude of this poem is expecting. Silverstein shows us the expectation of someone who thinks has lost weight, but nothing has changed.

Shift

The shift happens in the 7 and 8th stanzas where the person finally realizes that nothing has changed.

Opinion

This poem is great if you want to learn about sensible subjects.

Recommendation

I liked this poem. But I would not recommend randomly.

Attitude The attitude of this poem is confident. Silverstein shows us in this poem that only love count in a family and not blood. Shift The shift appears in stanza 4 where the author takes a more confident tone to express his feelings. Opinion I loved this poem. Its attitude and tone really sank me deep into this poem’s meaning. Recommendation This poem has become my new favorite. I would recommend it to relatives.

“MONSTERS I’VE MET” by Shel Silverstein Paraphrase Stanza 1 talks about people who are not always there for the reasons we think they are. The last stanza state “At all the wrong times” like the author always met the right people but never at the time he wanted to meet them or need them. Attitude The attitude of this poem is serious. Silverstein, in stanzas 7,l tells us that he kept meeting all the right people but not at the time he wanted. Shift The shift appears on the last stanza when the author changes his tone to a more serious one. Opinion I liked this poem because of it attitude. Recommendation This is a great poem. But I do not think I would recommend it to a lot of people.
